XP Securities financial advisor Otávio Sardinha has left the Brazilian firm’s Miami-based business to set up his own shop on Bolton Global Capital’s independent advisory platform.

Sardinha had been with XP in Miami since 2016 and managed a book of $107m for high net worth clients based in Brazil, according to a Bolton announcement.

He has over 18 years’ experience in the investment industry and will be based out of Bolton’s office on Brickell Avenue in Miami.

Sardinha started his career as an equity trader for BarraInvest in Rio de Janeiro back in 2002 before joining Banif Securities in 2007 as head of its international institutional desk.

He was transferred to Miami in 2012 after being named Banif’s head of institutional sales and trading. The following year, he left to join Banco do Brasil where he was responsible for managing client relationships and growing its business.

This is the second financial advisor to join Bolton’s advisor network as an independent in as many months. In February, Gonzalo Canelas left Morgan Stanley in New York to launch his own independent firm at Bolton. Canelas oversaw around $240m in assets for ultra-high net worth clients in Latin America while at Morgan Stanley.
